Nestled between the Alps and the Mediterranean sea is the historic and fashionable sovereign state of Monaco. Known for its elegant belle-époque casino complex and ornate Salle Garnier opera house, as well as the annual Formula 1 race that attracts an international jet set crowd, the principality of Monte Carlo is the place to be seen. The city boasts several world leading hotels but there is one stand out establishment that exudes opulence, style and glamour, The Hotel Metropole.

Ideally situated in the Carré d’Or, within walking distance of the Casino, the hotel was built in 1886. It was fully renovated in 2004 by famous French designer Jacques Garcia, who transformed it into a palace of 125 rooms and suites in keeping with its era. Decorated in Mediterranean style, each room appears to have stepped out of a scene of nobility. Interior furniture is shaped in scroll formation with refined fabrics and a palette of glowing and shimmering hues, finished with a honey-coloured wood varnish.

The restaurants, inspired by Joël Robuchon and run by Christophe Cussac, are exceptional. With two Michelin stars, Restaurant Joël Robuchon Monte-Carlo promises an unforgettable gastronomic experience. YOSHI, Joël Robuchon’s first Japanese restaurant in the world, features healthy contemporary cuisine produced by Japanese Chef Takeo Yamazaki, and a Japanese-inspired garden. A third poolside restaurant Odyssey was designed by Karl Lagerfeld and oozes style and sophistication.
