Latin Vibes
Virtuozity gets its Latin American vibe on and tries out the stunning Coya in Abu Dhabi
It’s hard to choose just one word for Abu Dhabi’s Coya. You could use eclectic, immersive, colourful, vibrant, random, and crazy. I’d just simply call it cool.
Located in The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, even the entrance is an experience, as you valet park and then descend into the multi-level restaurant.
From its waterfront spot Coya enjoys stunning views over the water. It looked fantastic during the day over lunch, but at night it is simply stunning. Decorated with bespoke hand-carved furnishings, Peruvian trinkets and contemporary art, the restaurant feels more chic apartment or exotic museum, than a place to eat.
Before the sun goes down it’s a cool, quiet place to enjoy a simply fantastic lunch. At night, with a DJ playing, a swinging bar and plates of Latin American food being served across the venue, it becomes a proper Abu Dhabi place to be and a place to be seen.
Based around Peruvian cuisine, Coya blends traditional Peruvian dishes with Japanese, Chinese and Spanish cooking techniques. The results are simply mind-blowing. The food is to die for, with something for everyone to get into.
The potato churros and seared wagyu beef are stand outs on the incredible appetizer menu, whilst the wild mushroom ceviche and grilled chicken tacos are mouthwateringly good. Add a side of potato purēe with truffle, smoked butter and Amarillo chili and you’ll be pretty much in food nirvana.
But Coya isn’t just about food. It’s an experience. It’s a place to socialize and enjoy an odd mix of down-to-earth food, blended with complex techniques and stunning flavours to create a real venue to celebrate the finer side of life.
If you are in Abu Dhabi and are hitting the town for a night of good food, amazing drinks, and gorgeous views, then you only need to head to one place.
Trust me, your tastebuds will be thanking you for weeks.
