Titanium timepieces

IWC Schaffhausen has been producing timepieces of lasting value since 1868 and so it comes as no surprise that the Swiss watch manufacturer has announced that its striking Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month timepiece is now available with a titanium case. Limited to 100 individually numbered pieces, the timepiece has a case measuring 45 millimetres that is made of grade 5 titanium, with higher strength and hardness widely used for making aerospace airframe and engine components. The perpetual calendar has large digital displays for the date and the month. It is mechanically programmed to recognise the different lengths of the months and even adds a leap day at the end of February every four years. The calibre movement also features a chronograph with fly back function. The automatic winding system builds up a power reserve of 68 hours and features a rotor made of solid 18-carat gold. With a slate-coloured dial and black hands with luminescence, this timepiece is a striking addition to any horology fan’s collection.
