Panerai’s New Chapter

According to Panerai, its new Luminor Due collection is a new chapter in the brand’s history.

It features a new case, subtly redesigned but faithfully inspired by the lines of the classic Luminor of the 1950s. The ingredients are the ones well known to every connoisseur of high quality watchmaking: the robust cushion case, the large dial surrounded by the bezel, the strong integrated lugs and the bridge-shaped device which seals the crown with a lever and protects it from accidental shocks.

With a thickness of only 10.5 mm, the case of the new Luminor Due 3 Days is the thinnest Luminor case ever created. The remarkable efforts of Panerai’s designers are seen in a reduction in the thickness of almost 40 per cent compared to several models in the Luminor 1950 collection with the same diameter.

This reduction of thickness – and of weight – has been devised for all those who want to enjoy the distinctive identity of a Panerai watch while enjoying a different experience on the wrist.

Available in AISI 316L stainless steel or in an elegant red gold version, the case of the new Luminor Due 3 Days is 42 mm in diameter, it has the classic bridge device with sealing lever which protects the winding crown, and every component has a polished finish.

The sapphire crystal reveals the classic minimalist Panerai dial with figures and bar hour markers and the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock.

Black in the steel version and anthracite grey in the gold one, the dial has the classic sandwich structure, displaying the time extremely clearly, and it is enhanced by a satine soleil finish.

Inside the watch

The back of the new Luminor Due 3 Days is open, so that the hand-wound P.1000 calibre can be admired; in the red gold model this calibre is presented for the first time in the sophisticated skeletonised P.1000/10 version.

In it, the large brushed finish bridge which protects over half thesurface of the calibre has been worked to reveal part of the mechanism.
